Rosebuds: First, cut your material into 4" squares. Shape one cotton ball into the form of a rose bud (use your imagination of what you picture a rose bud to look like, make it fun!)
Next, put the shaped cotton ball into the cut square, almost to the center. Now make a triangle with the fabric by taking one corner and matching it with the opposite corner. Next, take one side and fold it over to the other side, slightly off. Do not make it go evenly across. This is what forms the buds. Then take the other side and fold it across in the opposite direction as the first. Next, twist and pinch together. Then you will sew the bottom together so that it looks like a bottom of the rose bud. You may have to shape it at this time. Next, insert floral wire or bamboo for stems. Use the floral tape and start at the upper part of the base of the rose bud and wrap the floral tape all the way down the stem. NOTE: If you are adding leaves to your stem, you will put them in the place where you want them to be and as you are wrapping with the floral tape you will include the leaves also. Two views of my completed rosebud! I hope you enjoy making them as much as I do!I have made several different types of flowers out of felt and imitation silk. I will be including pictures and measurements of my other flowers soon. |
